About

Scuffletown Life is a glimpse into the home of Dan & Terrie Zeller.

We had been married about 4 years when we stumbled across this little two-acre piece of scrub land not far from the confluence of Woodruff, Batesville, Adam’s Mill, Five Forks and Scuffletown Roads.  Our little lane was still gravel when we first came here.  Trees grew over to shade it from both sides, forming a cool, leafy tunnel that seemed to be a portal from the cares of this world to another time and place.  We turned off the road and bounced our way across an open field, down through a little draw, and up over a tree-lined terrace to find our little slice of Heaven.  It started out as little more than brambles, briars and crippled trees, but our dreams took shape here, and we built a home together.

Our story is one of working, building, nurturing, teaching, trusting and loving, and we’d like to share some of it with you.

I always loved porches with big hanging ferns. I am a lover of flowers too. Could sit all day on a porch like that. Beautiful, beautiful!!!!!!!!Linda Panten

What a blessing to read about and see pictures of your family and home you have built! Just so appreciate what you have chosen to share. Beautiful family!!! Like very much the Beach and Grinch story.

Andrew’s aunt sent me your link so I could enjoy his beginning farming practices on your farm this summer. We are interested in having young farmers/families help us reclaim the land which has long been fallow through Polyface type practices. How encouraging your report is!
